Reliable connection

MATCH THE CONNECTOR
TO THE CIRCUIT

A connector must suit the electrical signal or load, conductor type, temperature and mechanical environment.

Hotset UK supplies power plugs and sockets for heating equipment together with thermocouple connectors for temperature-sensor circuits. These are different applications and must be selected using the correct electrical and temperature ratings.

Thermocouple connectors must match the sensor type and polarity throughout the measuring circuit. Power connectors must be rated for the heater voltage, current, conductor size and service conditions.

Do not select by appearance alone.

Connectors that look similar may have different conductor materials, temperature ratings, current capacity or pin arrangements. Supply the existing reference or full circuit details.

Connector families

POWER AND TEMPERATURE CONNECTIONS

The right connector provides a secure, serviceable junction without compromising the heater supply or sensor signal.

Power plugs

Industrial plugs selected for the heater voltage, operating current, cable and connection arrangement.

Power sockets

Mating sockets for equipment, extension leads and detachable heater assemblies.

Thermocouple plugs

Sensor connectors matched to Type J, K, T or another specified thermocouple calibration.

Thermocouple sockets

Mating panel, cable and instrumentation connections that maintain correct type and polarity.

Standard and miniature

Thermocouple connector body size is selected to match the equipment and existing installation.

Accessories

Panel mounts, strain reliefs, cable clamps and protective items can complete the connection assembly.

Selection considerations

MORE THAN
PLUG AND SOCKET

The connector is one part of a complete electrical assembly. Its rating must not be considered separately from the cable, heater, sensor or controller.

Power or sensor circuit

First establish whether the connector carries heater power or a low-level temperature signal.

Electrical rating

Confirm voltage and current for power circuits, or thermocouple type for sensor circuits.

Operating temperature

Consider both the normal connector temperature and possible heat conducted from the process.

Pin arrangement

Number, size, gender and orientation of contacts must match the mating connector and equipment.

Cable compatibility

Conductor material, cross-section, insulation, outside diameter and strain relief must be suitable.

Environment

Moisture, dust, oils, vibration, repeated disconnection and mechanical protection affect selection.
