The complete assembly matters

CABLE SELECTED FOR
THE APPLICATION

Cable performance depends on more than conductor size: temperature, movement, abrasion, moisture, electrical signal and termination method all matter.

Hotset UK supplies heater-power leads, thermocouple and compensating cables, sensor wiring and accessories including protective sleeving, metal braid, flexible conduit, glands and connection hardware.

Power and sensor cables perform different jobs. Thermocouple extension or compensating cable must match the sensor type, while heater leads must be sized and insulated for the electrical load and operating environment.

Specify the cable as part of the heater.

A cable suitable away from the machine may not tolerate the temperature at the heater termination. Give us the conditions along the complete cable route.

Available products

CABLES AND PROTECTION

The required conductor, insulation and protection are selected together to produce a dependable connection.

Heater power leads

Flexible conductors selected for heater current, voltage, termination temperature and installation conditions.

Thermocouple cable

Type J, K, T and other matching extension or compensating cables for temperature-measurement circuits.

PT100 cable

Suitable sensor wiring for two-, three- and four-wire resistance-temperature arrangements.

High-temperature sleeving

Additional insulation and grouping protection near heaters, tools and hot machine surfaces.

Metal braid and conduit

Mechanical protection against abrasion, handling and damage in industrial environments.

Connection accessories

Glands, terminals, ferrules, strain reliefs, identifiers and related assembly components.

Selection considerations

FOLLOW THE
COMPLETE CABLE ROUTE

Temperature and mechanical conditions often change between the heater, machine connection and controller.

Conductor and circuit

Power, thermocouple and PT100 circuits require different conductor materials and connection practice.

Electrical loading

Heater-cable conductor size must suit the voltage, current, length and installation method.

Temperature exposure

Identify ambient temperature and heat conducted or radiated from the heater and surrounding machinery.

Flexing and movement

Repeated movement, tight bends and vibration require a cable and protection method designed for that duty.

Mechanical protection

Braid, conduit and sleeving protect against abrasion and impact but must remain compatible with the environment.

Routing and interference

Low-level sensor wiring should be routed appropriately in relation to heater power, motors and switching equipment.
