Reduced heat loss
Helps retain useful heat around the barrel instead of releasing it directly into the surrounding workplace.
Industrial thermal insulation
Removable high-temperature jackets designed to retain heat, reduce unnecessary energy loss and improve protection around industrial barrels and heated machinery.
Keep useful heat in the process
Hotset insulation jackets are designed for injection moulding, extrusion and other industrial applications where heat retention is important.
The jackets fit around heated barrels and process components, creating a removable insulating layer between the hot machinery and the surrounding working environment.
Each jacket can be manufactured around the dimensions and physical features of the machine, including suitable openings for thermocouples, pressure transducers and adjoining equipment.
Supply the barrel dimensions, photographs and the positions of heaters, cables, sensors, guards and other obstructions. We can use this information to design the required jacket sections.
Why insulate?
The actual improvement depends upon the machine, temperature, operating cycle and existing insulation, but reducing uncontrolled heat loss can provide several practical benefits.
Helps retain useful heat around the barrel instead of releasing it directly into the surrounding workplace.
Reducing heat loss can lower the energy required to maintain operating temperature.
Retaining heat around the process may help the machine reach operating temperature more efficiently.
The insulated cold face reduces exposure to the high temperature of the barrel beneath it.
Stainless-steel hook-and-loop fastening allows the jackets to be removed for maintenance and refitted afterwards.
Openings can be incorporated around sensors, transducers, connections and machine features.
Typical applications
Insulation jackets can be manufactured for cylindrical and application-specific heat-retention requirements.
Removable insulation around heated machine-barrel zones.
Heat retention around extrusion barrels and associated process equipment.
Application-specific insulation for heated profiles, tools and dies.
Removable insulation around suitable injection-moulding hoppers and cylindrical equipment.
Published construction details
Material temperature ratings describe the individual constituent materials. The suitability and safe operating limit of a complete jacket must be confirmed against its construction and actual application.
Jackets are available from a minimum nominal diameter of 50 mm.
Jackets are available from a minimum nominal width of 30 mm.
a 260°C continuous rating for the PTFE-coated cold face, 1000°C unstressed continuous for the hot-face cloth and 1200°C for the Insulfrax blanket.
Preparing an enquiry
Accurate dimensions and clear photographs help us divide the installation into practical, removable jacket sections.
Thermocouples, pressure transducers, heater cables, supports and machine junctions affect how the jacket must be divided and fastened. Photographs and accurate positions help prevent a jacket from obstructing essential components.
