Compact precision heating

HEAT WHERE SPACE IS LIMITED

Coil heaters place a compact, mineral-insulated heating element close to the surface or component requiring heat.

Hotset introduced its first round hotspring coil heater in 1980 and has developed the range to include different profiles, sizes and application-led constructions. Hotset UK holds coil heaters in stock and can also work with Hotset Germany on specialised requirements.

They are particularly well suited to hot-runner nozzles, manifolds, sealing equipment and other applications needing concentrated heat from a small cross-section.

Stock or bespoke?

Give us the Hotset reference where known. If no direct replacement is available, send the heater dimensions, electrical rating, coil form, leads and application so that alternatives can be assessed.

Our principal stocked range

HOTSPRING
CLASSIC / F

The 2.2 × 4.2 mm flat hotspring is our main coil-heater range for nozzle and compact process-heating applications.

We hold straight lengths in the UK ready to wind to the required diameter and pitch. Other hotspring sizes, powers and connection options are available from Hotset Germany, normally within 7–10 working days.

Standard UK-stock construction

230 V, 65 mm unheated section, 25 mm transition head, 1 metre PTFE leads and an ungrounded Type J thermocouple.

CALCULATE THE
WINDING RANGE

Enter the nozzle diameter and heated length. We will show every UK-stock coil that can be wound within the standard range.

Your suitable stock coils will appear here.

The result checks winding geometry only. Hotset UK will confirm the wattage and thermal suitability for your application.

How the winding calculation works

The calculation uses the heater centreline: circumference = (nozzle diameter + 2.2 mm) × π. Turns = heated length ÷ circumference. Closed-coil length = (turns × 4.8 mm) + 4.2 mm. Standard winding may extend to 2½ times the closed-coil length.

Product possibilities

BUILT FOR PRECISE HEAT

The correct coil heater combines the required profile and formed shape with suitable wattage, terminations and temperature sensing.

Compact cross-section

High heat output can be positioned close to nozzles, manifolds, sealing bars and restricted machine spaces.

Different profiles

Round, flat and square-profile variants are available within the Hotset hotspring range.

Formed configurations

Elements may be supplied straight or formed to suit the diameter and geometry of the application.

Temperature sensing

Suitable constructions can incorporate or work alongside a thermocouple for controlled temperature measurement.

Mechanical protection

Reflection tubes, sleeves and clamping arrangements can protect the heater and support heat transfer in suitable applications.

UK stock support

Hotset UK stocks commonly required coil heaters and has access to the wider knowledge and range of Hotset Germany.

Typical applications

WHERE COIL HEATERS ARE USED

Coil heaters are selected where concentrated, accurately positioned heat is required within a compact installation.

Hot-runner nozzles

Close-fitting heating around injection-moulding nozzles and flow paths.

Hot-runner manifolds

Formed elements positioned within machined grooves to heat manifold systems.

Sealing bars

Compact heating for packaging bars, jaws and sealing equipment.

Special-purpose tooling

Dies, laboratory equipment and machinery requiring a small, formable heating element.
